A Debate on Regular versus Distance Learning Course

Hence it clearly states the fact that the success of the person depends not on the mode of education rather on the individual himself or herself. Thus unnecessarily tagging distance learning as incompetent, due to personal biases is absolutely baseless.

Teaching Quran

He (Allah) is described by what He has attributed to Himself in His Magnificent Book and upon the tongue of His honorable Prophet.We are obligated to believe in and to welcome with submission and acceptance everything that is mentioned in the Quranand that is authentically reported on the Prophet (Peace by upon him) concerning Allah's Attributes.And we must abandon opposing it (which is done) by-

·         Radd (rejection),

·         Ta'weel (distortive interpretation; hidden meaning),

·         Tashbeeh (comparison), and

·         Tamtheel (representation).

As for what appears unclear from that, then we are obligated to affirm its wording and not oppose its (literal) meaning. We are to return the precise knowledge of it to the One who stated it and we entrust it upon the one who transmitted it, following the example of the ones who are deeply endowed with knowledge, those whomAllahhas praised in His manifest Book, saying:

And those who are firmly grounded with knowledge say: 'We believe in it (theQuran); the whole of it (clear and unclear verses) is from our Lord'

[Surah Aali-Imraan (3):7]

And He says, disprasing the one who seeks the Ta'weel (hidden meaning) of the unclear verses of His revelation.

As for those in whose hearts there is deviation, they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking fitnah (mischief) and seeking for its ta'weel (hidden meanings), but no one knows its hidden meanings exceptAllah.

[Surah Aali-Imraan (3):7]ThusAllahhas placed the aspect of seeking after the hidden meanings (ta'weel) as a sign of deviation. And He has placed a barrier between them and that which they aspire and He cuts off their ambitions from what they seek after, by saying:

But no one knows its hidden meanings exceptAllah.[Surah Aali-Imraan (3):7]

Concerning the ahadeeth: Verily,Allahdescends to the lowest heaven and Verily, Allah will be seen on the Day of Judgement and what is similar to these ahaadeeth, Imam Abu ‘Abdillah Ahmad ibn Hanbal (rahimahullah) said:

We believe in them and we attest to their verity, without saying how and without ascribing a (fixed) meaning for them. Nor do we reject any part from them. We know that whatever the Messenger came with is the truth. We do not reject whatAllah's Messenger came with, nor do we describe Allah with more than He has described Himself, without limits.

Allah says: ‘There is nothing what so ever like Him (in comparison). And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.'We say as He said. We describe Him with what He has described Himself and we do not transgress that. The description of those who (attempt to) describe Him, cannot grasp Him. We do not reject any of His Attributes due to a discomfort (that we may perceive towards it). We do not transgress theQur'anand theHadith. And we have no knowledge of how to understand them, except through the affirmations of the Messenger and the confirmation of the Qur'an.Imam Abu ‘AbdillahMuhammadibn Idrees Ash-Shaafi'e, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
I believe inAllah and in what has been reported concerning Allah, upon what was intended byAllah. And I believe in the Messenger of Allah and in what has been reported concerning the Messenger of Allah, upon what was intended by the Messenger of Allah.This is the way that the scholars of the past and present have followed, may Allah be pleased with them. They all unanimously agreed onacknowledging, accepting, andaffirmingwhat has been mentioned in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (Peace be upon him) concerning the Attributes, withoutturning towardsthe use of ta'weel.

Five Key Challenges for HR

Numbering 11,000 attendees, the SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) show continues to be the HR event for the industry. You can't help watching some practitioners travel the expo with monster hats, balloon figures, and bags of giveaways. Between all these activities, a number of key topics and trends surfaced.

The most importance challenges our society faces are HR challenges, summarized keynote speaker Al Gore. Gore continued to list five key areas HR executives must address.

1) Diversity. The late Sen. Ted Kennedy Jr. noted in an earlier speech that two-thirds of Americans with disabilities are not able to get any type of employment despite the Americans with Disabilities Act celebrating its 20th anniversary. Gore emphasized that when objects are in front of you, a slightly different perspective provides greater insight than any one view of a situation. Both emphasized the importance to society to embrace diversity in our respective roles.

2) Continuing education and personal development. To compete in the age of information and technology, human capital needs continued investment. Intel CEO Paul Otellini said, The United States now faces a world with much tougher competitors. Many of them are accelerating their investment in the future faster than we are. These countries have closed the talent gap and are successfully competing against U.S. talent. This fact emphasizes the importance to our society to continue to invest in continuing education to keep the U.S. competitive.

3) The Internet and digital revolution. We are in the age of disintermediation models that worked in the past don't now, claimed Gore. Web traffic is 200 percent higher across digital devices than people. We are only at the beginning of the Internet era, continued Gore. The opportunities for us are great if we can leverage the technologies and skills to harness it adequately.

4) Organizational development. When Gore chaired the Reinventing Government Commission, he learned firsthand that line personnel are first in line with new ideas to make organizations work better. Disenfranchising this labor force comes at a high cost. Organizations need to re-invent themselves with more open and collaborative communications. The net impact will be positive.

5) Compensation and incentives. Since witnessing huge bonuses paid to executives on Wall Street, despite the public bailout, compensation and incentives have headlined in every major media. However, the dialogue need to move to how people identify with company values, said Gore. A CFO Survey revealed 70 percent of CFOs would not make a sound investment if it resulted in missed financial targets in the following quarter. Gore emphasized, We need to realign incentives so they are good for long-term business.

We need to build sustainable capitalism. Gore continued. We need to be more effective at allocating resources, rapid development tool, meeting supply and demand, while unlocking human potential. When we don't do this, there is misalignment, which results in suffering.

Otellini agreed: Global competitiveness requires continually making investments for the future: investments in the things that make innovation possible, even if they don't yield results immediately.
