Are South African degrees of the samevalue as overseas degrees?

Im talking of the commercial degrees,medical,engineering,applied sciences degrees

Yes, and higher than.

Some do, some dont. Depends largely on your university and the specific course. Most universities have agreements with overseas schools for quality control, and that also ensures acceptability of SA qualifications. Check however every individual qualification and do not just accept that it will be accepted.

Our mining engineering courses at one time was top of the pops worldwide. In some instances our HONOURS degrees are equal to Masters from overseas countries. In some instances SA qualifications are simply not accepted.

Mine did the trick here in the US at the ed of the day but then mine was acquired a very long time ago. Now days I dont think it will work for you due to the drop in educational standards can be wrong too ….

Depends on which University you go to. I know Cape Town University issues degrees that are internationally accepted. Otherwise I would be careful…I think the education system has been "tweeked" to let in people who went to poor government schools with underpaid (and often underqualifed) teachers.

Not so long ago they were, yes.
Unfortunately this is no longer the case, the quality of South African degrees and education in general has been dramatically lowered over the last 5 to 10 years in order to accommodate the fomerly disadvantaged. The only reputable universities remaining in this country are Pretoria University and the Rand Afrikaans University, and they too are rapidly decending into the doldrums of 3rd world education.
Black South Africans are carried through primary and secondary schools and can barely read basic english when graduating from most government institutions, they are then allocated positions in our universities at the expense of white students whose grades far exceed theirs.
The result, degrees not worth the paper they are printed on for all.

I know that any medical staff trained in South Africa are highly regarded within the medical industry in England. They consider them highly trained and good doctors and nurses. Infinitely employable.

I had friend who moved form Cape Town to California and had a degree in communications engineering. With the help of an attorney he was able to have that legitimized in the US.
